Lonesome Ron started playing guitar in high school and spent his years learning country western songs along with rock & roll and folk tunes. Eventually he began playing the bass guitar and learned to pick banjo. He has performed with some of the top names in music such as Jean Shepard the Queen of Country Music, Donna Douglas of the Beverly Hillbillies and Les Gilliam. He has also shared the same venue with acts like Jan & Dean, Marie Osmond, Boxcar Willie, the Kingsmen and Gary Lewis. The Lonesome Ron show features mainly cowboy songs both old and new. He does everything from traditional western music to Gene Autry songs and then some. At a Lonesome Ron performance you might learn why cowboys sing to their cattle and other important nuggets of western lore. Some of his recent noteworthy performances include Northfield, Minnesota's annual Defeat of Jesse James Days; the Chippewa Forest Music Festival; Laura Ingalls Wilder Days in Walnut Grove, Minnesota; Capture of the Younger Brothers Re-enactment in Madelia, Minnesota; Morgan Creek Wine Celebration, Spirit of the West in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and the Rock Bend Folk Festival. Besides his musical endeavors, Lonesome Ron is also a computer programmer and amateur historian. |
